Francesca Ascioti

Biography

Francesca Ascioti, contralto, studied under the guidance of Teresa Berganza and Bernadette Manca di Nissa. She graduated in singing at the Brescia Conservatory and perfected herself by working closely with the mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux.

In November 2013 Francesca performed as Quickly in Falstaff at the Teatro Verdi in Busseto, alongside Renato Bruson in the title role (co-production of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Teatro Regio in Parma). In the same year she won the Special Prize at the “Marcello Giordani” competition. In 2014 she debuted as Zita (Gianni Schicchi) in Piacenza and as Baroness of Champigny (Il Cappello di paglia di Firenze) at the Petruzzelli Theater in Bari. In 2015 she performed againas  Quickly at the Ravenna Festival, under the direction of Riccardo Muti.

Also in 2015, her meeting with Andrea Marcon allowed her to expand her repertoire to include baroque opera. From this moment on, Francesca assiduously frequents the seventeenth-eighteenth century musical theatre, without however neglecting the melodramatic repertoire of the nineteenth century.

Francesca has recorded for many record labels. She has already worked with conductors such as Giovanni Antonini, Fabio Luisi, Giampaolo Bisanti, Stefano Montanari, Ottavio Dantone, George Petrou, Federico Maria Sardelli, Alessandro De Marchi.
