Dennis Orellana won the first Farinelli Competition in Karlsruhe
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, Parnassus Arts Productions’ exclusive artist, Dennis Orellana (male soprano), won the first edition of the Farinelli Competition for countertenors, newly founded by opera director Christoph von Bernuth.
As part of the 47th International Handel Festival in Karlsruhe, the world’s first singing competition for countertenors was held at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe: For the 1st Farinelli Competition for countertenors, in honor of the most famous singer of this category, nearly 50 singers applied, of whom 23 presented themselves before a prestigious five-member jury in the first internal preliminary round.
