Sonja Runje as Farnace (Mitridate re di Ponto) at the Opéra de Lausanne

Our outstanding contralto and Parnassus Arts Productions exclusive artist, Sonja Runje, will perform the role of Farnace in Mozart’s opera Mitridate re di Ponto at the Opéra de Lausanne starting February 23, 2025. In total, four performances are scheduled on February 23, 25, 28, and March 2, 2025, in a production directed by Emmanuelle Bastet and conducted by Andreas Spering.

Sonja Runje’s upcoming performances include, among others, the role of Counsel in Handel’s The Triumph of Time and Truth and the title role in Griselda by Bononcini at the Musiktheater an der Wien, the role of Holofernes in Vivaldi’s Juditha Triumphans, the contralto parts in St. John Passion at the Zagreb Lisinski Hall and in Mozart’s Requiem in Split, the title role in Handel’s famous opera Giulio Cesare at the Oper Köln, the role of Teodata in Handel’s Flavio at the Philharmonie Köln and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as well as the role of Antigono in Mitridate Eupatore in Spain, and many more.

Recently, Sonja Runje shone as Bradamante (Orlando Furioso) at the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival, as Egeo in Handel’s Teseo at the Halle Handel Festival and at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, and as Erenice in Caldara’s opera Il Venceslao at the Warsaw Philharmonic and at the Tage Alter Musik festival in Herne.

Sonja Runje regularly collaborates with renowned conductors such as George Petrou, Christian Curnyn, Benjamin Bayl, Ruben Dubrovsky, Martyna Pastuszka, Rüdiger Lotter, Francesco Corti, and many more. Her repertoire includes contralto and mezzo-contralto roles such as Isabella (L’Italiana in Algeri), Amastre (Serse), Carmen, Bradamante and Alcina (Orlando Furioso), Tolomeo, Cesare, and Cornelia (Giulio Cesare), Octavia (L’Incoronazione di Poppea), Matilda (Ottone), Calypso (Polifemo), La Marchesa Melibea (Il Viaggio a Reims), and many more.
