Apollo e Dafne
About
Apollo and Daphne from Roman poet Ovid’s “Metamorphoses” has not only inspired art and sculpture but also a number of Baroque composers, who dedicated a work to the myth of Daphne turning into a laurel tree, such as G. F. Handel and C. H. Braun in their cantatas “Apollo a Dafne” (HWV 122) and “Apollo amante di Dafne”.
Czech bariton Tomas Kral and Belgian soprano Sophie Junker, celebrated internationally for the beauty and intensity of their voices, present these Baroque gems.
